Hey Rockin’ fans, can you believe it’s already April? Time flies here at Rockin’ Baja… great food, ice-cold drinks and fantastic company make for awesome times!

Even better, what does April bring to our amazing city? Baseball, of course! In just a week, Petco Park will be hosting the first San Diego Padres home game of the year. What better pre-game tradition than to stop in for a round of our really %&#@&#% good Tacos Chingones – carne asada with cheese, beans, avocado and pickled onions in a warm flour tortilla – and a frosty mug of your favorite draft beer before heading to the game. Or cheer on the Padres from the comfort of any of our great locations. It’s almost as good as going to the game, but the proximity to great food can’t be beat!

Spring in San Diego also serves as a great time for date night! Start with an order of our calamari, a sizzling bucket of deliciously crisp calamari steak strips that’s served with our famous chipotle dipping sauce. Wow, just a blink of an eye and we’re already into March! And today is Saint Patrick’s Day! Truly there’s no better way to tip your hat to ol’ St. Paddy than to celebrate the Rockin’ Baja way with one of our Surf & Turf buckets! Happy New Year from Rockin’ Baja! We’ve been enjoying a terrific start to 2010 with great weather in California and great Baja food. We've got a few really great specials and events going on and we're gearing up for one of our best years yet! We are currently working on some new food and drink menu items, which will hopefully debut in the coming weeks and months.

For now, we invite you for some late night fun at Rockin’ Baja Gaslamp. We’re featuring fresh DJ’s, hot music and food, and drink specials every Friday and Saturday night from 9 p.m. until close.

At our Newport, Huntington and Montclair locations, you can enjoy the Taste of Baja Bucket for two, just $19.99! The bucket includes mouth-watering lobster, shrimp, chicken and carne asada, plus beans, rice and tortillas. I can’t believe that this year has gone by so quickly – Navidad is almost here! We’re celebrating Rockin’ Baja-style, all month long! The holiday season begins in Baja on December 16, with the beginning of the nine-day Las Posadas celebration, and we keep it rockin’ through Epiphany on January 6. Instead of the evergreen Christmas tree, Baja-style Christmas trees are made from the dried stem and flower of a century plant – a cool tradition using local resources!

Fresh seafood is also a big tradition on Christmas Eve…so start a new tradition in your family and swing in to a Rockin’ Baja for a Baja Shrimp & Slipper Lobster Bucket, just $25.99, or if you’re in Old Town come on down to Rocky’s Seafood Shack and Raw Bar for some oyster shooters!

It’s an exciting October at Rockin’ Baja! We are so excited to share with you more of the true taste of Baja with our all-new Rocky’s Seafood Shack Raw Bar. Visit our newest addition to Old Town and start your afternoon or night off with ice-cold shellfish like Maine lobster, snow crab clusters, king crab legs, and Old Bay shrimp or jumbo chilled shrimp. 2009 Comic-Con is almost here! We are so excited to welcome all Comic-Con attendees to San Diego next week and are also stoked for those new to San Diego to experience our delicious Baja cuisine.

It has become tradition at Rockin’ Baja to take our menu up a notch during Comic-Con, so we present you with a Comic-Con-style menu each year during the convention. We are super excited about our menu this year and think it will leave a rockin’ impression on you!

We are just a short walk from the San Diego Convention Center. Find us at 310 5th Ave., between J St. & K St. I’ll post the 2009 Comic-Con menu by tomorrow, so please check back soon!

Don’t forget Hoc Roc Sushi has now arrived at Rockin’ Baja Old Town, located at 3890 Twiggs Street in San Diego. Come sit by our blazing fire pit and enjoy a relaxing combo of Hot Roc Sushi and sake. Our variety of sushi rolls are sure to please, blending traditional sushi flavors with the unique tastes of Baja. Come early or late! Hey everyone…and welcome to my new blog!

It’s hard to believe I’ve been doing this for twenty-five years. There have been a lot of peaks and valleys but I guess the road does go on forever and the party really never does end. Anyway, I wanted to share some of the great things happening at Rockin’ Baja...and I’m especially excited to fill you in on our 25th Birthday Celebration! That’s right...Rockin’ Baja is 25 years old this year!

I remember back in 1983 when my father Joe, my wife Susan and I were so inspired by the small fishing village of Puerto Nuevo, Baja that we decided to create our own Puerto Nuevo-themed restaurant in our hometown of Bonita, California called Rockin’ Baja Lobster. The restaurant took off…and we’ve been throwing Rockin’ Baja beach parties ever since! There are now five locations throughout SoCal, but stayed tuned, there are still more to come!

Next month we take the beach and Rockin’ Baja to the desert as we open Rockin’ Baja Coastal Cantina in (Palm Springs area) La Quinta, CA. I’ll get the exact dates to you in a week or two.

But for right now and as a way to say thanks for Rockin’ with us all these years, we’re offering the Big Baja (25th Anniversary edition) Bucket FOR TWO for only $29.99 throughout all of 2009! It’s that crazy taste of Baja that everybody loves.
